Trojans Dominate Elon, Face UConn Next

Sophomore guard JuJu Watkins and graduate forward Kiki Iriafen both scored in double digits for the 11th time this season, leading the Trojans to a decisive 88-50 victory over Elon on Sunday afternoon. From the very beginning, it was clear that the Trojans were in control, executing their plays with precision and leaving the Phoenix with few opportunities to mount a counterattack. The game highlighted the team’s depth, skill, and determination to dominate on their home court.

However, amid the celebration of this resounding victory, a significant concern arose during the fourth quarter. JuJu Watkins, one of the Trojans’ standout players and a key asset

to the team appeared to sustain an ankle injury. Known for her exceptional athleticism and leadership on the court, Watkins was visibly in discomfort as she exited the game. Her injury casts a shadow over what was otherwise an excellent performance by the Trojans.

This situation comes at a critical moment for the team. On Saturday, the Trojans are set to face UConn, a perennial powerhouse in collegiate basketball. This matchup is expected to be one of the toughest contests of the season, and the Trojans will certainly need their full roster to secure a win. The health and availability of Watkins may prove to be a decisive factor in determining the outcome of this highly anticipated game.
